It will take 10 - 12 hours to travel from Guatemala City to Flores by bus. Linea Dorada runs Air Conditioning buses.

It is a long bus ride. We flew there . The ruins are well worth the trip however you decide to go.

Hi there, it takes about eight hours on a good paved road, and if you catch the overnight bus, you'll save yourself a ton of money because flying is very expensive. You'll also save on a hotel night. Deluxe buses are safe, totally different than chicken buses. The bus gets in real early in the morning which gives you the whole day to visit the park. Check out ww.adnautobusesdelnorte.com or www.tikalmayanworld.com. For hotels in Flores go to www.corpetur.com Good luck.

You might want to consider staying in El remate. It's much closer to Tikal . so you can get a really early start. We stayed at Le casa Don David. It was excellent and they were very helpful , even sent a cab to pick us up when we arrived and arranged a guide to take us around the ruins .The rooms are simple and spotless. Its a goodt value and includes a coupon for dinner or breakfast ( you're choice!!) $44.00 per couple.

When we went there, it took 8 hours all the way up on the bus from Guate to Santa Elena (Near Flores).
Flores and Santa Elena of course is where tourists usually base themselves for trips to Tikal
