Hi guys,

I will be in Jogja for about 2 months starting around this June 19. I am looking for a cheap place to stay, where I can pay by the week/month instead of by the night. Do you know of any homestays or good kos-kosan? I would like to avoid backpackers as much as possible and be around Indonesians instead.

Hi Peter,
Try to find it in Mrican area, near Sanata Dharma University.
I believe it will be cheap, no backpackers, and surrounded by Indonesian.

Thanks for the tip, I'll be sure to check that place out! Do you have any idea what kind of prices I might see in that area, as far as kos-kosan are concerned? And do you think finding a homestay would be difficult?

According to my Friend, with Rp 200.000 or USD 21 per month you can get a pleasant room.
About homestay, I heard that Gajah Mada University has a homestay. Maybe you can go to their website and look for information there...
