I look into the best way to go to Samarkand at my CD-Atlas.
I believe the best way is: 1) Get a boat and go by Mediterranean Sea, Black Sea-->Odessa(Ukraine) 2) Get a train from Odessa (Ukraine)-->Kiev (Ukraine)-->Moscow 3) Get a train from Moscow--> Sverdlovsk (Russia)-->Petropavlovsky (Kazakistan) -->Taskent (Uzbekistan)--> Samarkand (Uzbekistan) I believe you will find some changes from one train to another. * The other way should be by Iran. Persian Golf to Abadan (Iran). Then by train Abadan (Iran)-->Khorramshahr (Iran)--> Teheran (Iran)--> Kizyl-Aryat (Turk- menistan)-->Aschabad (Turkmenistan)-->Cardzou (Turkmenistan)--> Kagan (Uz- bekistan). There is a gap between Kagan (Uzbequistan) and Buchara (Uzbequis- tan) but they're very close. So I believe this round should be better inves- tigated. Going on your way then from Buchara (Uzbequistan) you may go to Samarkand by train as well. * The trip from Moscow seems to me much confortable, but I may be in the wrong It's a long journey but if I was younger I should become enthusiastic with this idea.
