Posted: Wed April 16, 2008 10:09 PM UTC
Can anybody please help me find accommodation in Amsterdam for 3 for 7 nights (28th April - 5th May) with some reasonable price? I was thinking about renting apartment as a better option but i couldn't find anything that has online booking or availability. I mean the one that did have were already booked and for the others I completed their online forms and I'm hoping for positive response. But while i wait, if anybody has some info that can help, some number of a tourist agency that i can call, anything...I will deeply appreciate!

thanks, alek

You are asking for the impossible at this late a date.
April 30th happens to be Queens Day, the biggest holiday in the Netherlands, and Amsterdam is Party Central! You should have been looking for a room months ago! I know that's what we did.

You can try www.bookings.com though. They are a Dutch hotel booking agency. I just did a search and they did show a triple available for about 100 euro per night.

Good luck!

I hope you will have succes, but Queensday and the next day are National holidays, and many visitors are expected.

Try one of the hyperlinks from my tip at: http://members.virtualtourist.com/m/tp/13ac6b

You can try here for hostels: http://www.hostelsclub.com/ for general and this one in specific: http://www.flyingpig.nl/

If everything is booked, you should broaden your search to the suburbs...

Good luck and enjoy Queensday while I am celebrating Easter in Macedonia :-)

Try http://www.bedandbreakfast.nl/index.php?lang=en or hotels.nl.
As for suburbs or places near Amsterdam, all with excellent train connections to Amsterdam. Amstelveen, Weesp, Badhoevedorp, Haarlem...
have a look at a Dutch map for more places around Amsterdam.

However, on April 30th the trains to and from Amsterdam will be absolutely loaded.

well ok guys, thanks for your help!

I wasnt lucky enough to find anything in Amsterdam, but I found something in Utrecht which is good enough.

Thou I just want to tell to everyone, when advising Craigslist, please put a notification "be aware of scam". I know that there is a section on the website, but people when in rush and need can be easily fooled. Luckily, after the second email I received there were many things not logical for me, so I read the scam section on Craigslist, i did some googling and everything made sense. Then I did go to the very end of the "deal" procedure so I can post it as an example and warning to all travelers around.

I'm not sure I understand about craigslist. Assuming you booked accommodation there?

No, I found a hotel by calling few others and they were giving me numbers from hotels that dont have online presentation and most likely have something available.
On the other hand, craigslist is great but also dangerous. It has the advantage of getting in contact straight with the owner but also residence for scam artists that are just trying to get money off you. Thou you have to be very very very desperate and out of your mind to believe in a story that because someone is out of town, you should send your money upfront in a bank account in Nigeria and he will mail you the keys of the apartment. Anyway here is the whole story:

Dear Alekander,

It is a great pleasure to know that you are interested in our
apartment.We resided in the
apartment for a few months with my husband. We will accept 250€ with
200€ security deposit for the 7nights because it well furnished but
the initial problem we had was that we've just stayed in the apartment
for 5months so we couldn't find anyone to entrust with the keys and
other documents, thou you cant actually go inside in the apartment but
maybe you can go and have a general look at the place if it will suit
your need and the interior furniture still remain intact as it in the
pictures
The rent includes all utilities and Just to tell you little about the
place, the kitchen is very modern equipped with dishwasher, oven,
microwave, fridge, freezer and coffee maker, there are two bedrooms
with standard bed. There is also a bathroom with a hydro massage
bathtub. The property has also a washing machine, heating and internet
service is available. So you can let me know what you feel about the
place maybe I will need to email you the rent application form to fill
after then the tenancy agreement which you will need to sign and email
back a copy to me with an upfront payment and security deposit.
So hope to hear back from you soon.
Sara
