| New York City | My New York itineraries Posted: Wed April 16, 2008 08:40 PM UTC
I'm going to visit New York in May and this is what I have planned:
DAY ONE (Saturday, 3rd May) - Arrival at Newark Airport (1:25 pm) - Leave my bags at the hotel (Central Park Hostel) - Union Square Greenmarket - Kim's Video & Music - Strand Book Shop - Forbidden Planet - ABC Carpet & Home - Flatiron Building - If there's any time left, see New York Public Library & Grand Central Terminal DAY TWO - City Walk (92nd street Y) - Lower East Side Tenement Museum - Annual Gathering of Remembrance at the Emanu-El Congregation - If there's any time left, visit Museum of Jewish Heritage DAY THREE - Meet the rabbi - Visit Jewish Children's Museum in Brooklyn (If you know of any other Jewish attractions / events in Brooklyn, please tell me) DAY FOUR (I have no idea!) DAY FOUR - I have to check out from my hotel early and I'll be carrying lots of bags, so I won't be able to walk around much. I think I'll go to the movies (IFC Center). Plane leaves at 8:00 pm What do you think? |

The Tenement Museum is fantastic; however book your tickets early as they do tend to sell out, or you can do it online. I would recommend doing both tours if you have time.

Your Day 1 sounds way too ambitious--if your flight arrives at EWR at 1:25, it is unlikely that you will get to your hotel before 3 PM. (And that's if your flight is on time!) Unless all you mean to do is just walk past all the places on your list, you might be able to do that before sundown...but if you actually want to spend time in any of them, you'll need to cut the number way down.
On Day 4, you should not have to carry your bags all day. I'm sure the hotel will store them for you so that you can come back and pick them up on your way out to the airport. This is very common practice.

You'll never be able to stick to this travel schedule. Just relax and enjoy the Big Apple away from such heavily regimented plan. Welcome to NYC.
