You will be as safe in Prague as in any other large European city. Us city common sense about moneey/after dark behaviour and you'll be fine.
Look at www.hostelworld.com or www.hostelbokkers.com if you want a hhostel; they have reviews. If you want a hotel, www.venere.com is a reliable booking site with honest guest reviews. I stayed at th Hotel Tivoli (see tip on my Prague page) as a single female. It was fine.

Try Ibis - there's a large one which opened about 2 years ago - about 5 mins walk from old town square - ususal standards of Ibis - near YMCA - reasonably priced. If you book coach trips avoid local tour operators - we were driven round in a mini bus without seatbelts, despite it being tourist board recommendeed. Would recommend viator.com - standards generally high. Dancing waters just outside Prague are utter rip off. Must see is the Obidiah - fantastic art noveau - tours can be booked via email - with no extra charge - cafe also does a nice cherry brandy to die for reasonably priced. Have fun.

I recommend hotel U Schnellu at Mala Strana which is less than 5minutes walk to Charles Bridge and to other famous restaurants and bars. It is also 2 blocks away from the tram station.
Pls google the name of the hotel and check also www.pragueexperience.com I am not sure with present hotel rates but this hotel is where I stayed last time. I enjoyed also the food they serve at the ground floor....Enjoy!

Hi We stayed in the Hotel St Jana ( John) a catholic rectory, beautiful building turned into a 14 room hotel in 2002, 14foot ceilings, ensuite, very reasonable price when we stayed a few years ago, tram outside and station 300 metres, 5 minute walk to river. Photo on my Prage page & web address.
Good Luck, Mike
