Abkhazia [provisional] Travel Forum

Hi everybody,

I'm contemplating to visit Abkhazia this autumn and I'm wondering if I'd need some kind of invitation and/or visa. I know I'll need a multiple entry visa for Russia to get back in, but what about Abkhazia?

It's pitty but abxazia is closed place for tourists now. and if you will go there, belive me, your life will be under question.
Abxazia is part of Georgia, But Georgia Can't Control It noW, Becouse there was War and Russia stoped their army in Abxazia. And there are a lot of Mob Groups, they are kidnaping people for money, killing ets. several days ago , they have theft even priest...
And about visa, you can't take it nowhere, Becouse it's Closed territory, and Georgian Border Security Willn't let you to go in Abxazia, and if you try to go there in illegal way (from russian border), it's too dangerous.
So it's my advice, don't risk and don't go there.

You can go to Abhazia quite freely from Russia, but border crossing into Georgia is out of the question for tourists. There are a number of tourist agencies in Sochi who organize trips to Sukhumi. If you go, bring back some souvenir shell-casings!
