| Hawaii (State of) | Oahu Posted: Tue April 15, 2008 02:48 PM UTC
We will be in Honolulu for a few days in October and plan to hire a car for a day and drive around Oahu.
We will definately be taking a look at North Shore and are wondering what else on Oahu will be worth a look? Waimea Falls Park? Nuuanu Pali State Park? Cheers Col |

HI,
On my first visit to Oahu we rented a car for the day and drove around the perimiter of the whole Island. We stopped along the way at a viewing "Chinaman's Hat", Byodo-In Temple in the Valley of Temples and the Beaches at in the North Shore. My recommendation is get a good map and just venture out there, you will definitely find plenty of beautiful places to see. Have a wonderful trip!!

I know this is a touristy thing to do and might not be of interest to you but I really enjoyed seeing the Arizona Memorial. I have a detailed description of my visit on my Pearl City page, if you're interested.
The north shore in Haleiwa was my favorite part of the trip.

I remember going to Waimea Falls as a teenager (a long time ago) ~ it was beautiful then and worth the visit. I also remember the Holana Blow Hole (especially on a windy day), and Hanauma Bay for snorkling. Both are South Shore.
Hope this helps! Suzi

Thanks for tips guys :-)
Gypsy's tip is great, was kinda what I was thinking....we are staying in Waikiki and will probly start with Diamond Head then continue ant-clockwise around the island. We are definately gonna do Pearl Harbour but will save the stuff for in & around Honolulu for a day where we dont need the car. Things like Haleiwa and Hanauma Bay sound great, along with some snorkelling. Thanks again guys. Col
