| Seoul | DMZ - train station in tour? Posted: Tue April 15, 2008 11:33 AM UTC
I've been told by a questionable source that one of the tours of the DMZ, has a stop at a train station in/near Panmunjom that among other things offers a tourist passport stamp representing DPRK with the dove of peace.
I've toured the DMZ and JSA during my tour of North Korea, and done the USO tour... So one of my friends and I were looking for something else. Any insight on which other tours offer this station? No other posts or tips give any definitive information. is it Dorasan Railway Station? |

Ah, it is in the capitalist south. No chance of getting a passport stamped on a normal tourist visit to the north.

Thanks Al!
Cliff, looks like you and I will have to live without a true DPRK stamp.

They are missing another source of foreign currency. San Marino now charges five euros for an official passport stamp.

Your "questionable source" is correct. There is a train station at Dorsan called "the last stop on the way to North Korea". From what I've seen 90% of the tours to the DMZ stop off there (mine did too). There you can get a passport stamped with a commeration of the visit (as you can when you cross the artic cirle etc etc) but you don't get a North Korean stamp. It is all a bit of hype really, but I can say that I've been there... (but don't have the stamp to prove it).

I actually went on the tour just yesterday and visited Dorasan St. It might be a little cheesy, but since DPRK would not stamp any passport or papers, nor were we given copies of any documents, this stamp will just have to do.
