Caracas CAR RENTAL
Posted: Tue April 15, 2008 11:15 AM UTC
Hi everybody!
We are planning a trip to Venezuela by the end of May and looking for car rentals. All the sites regarding Caracas Airport car hire offices are giving very high price levels- ca 60 USD per day. Does anybody know, are the prices given like "official" exchange rates? I mean, if I try to exchange dollars in "black market", I can get a car with much more price? It can be so, if the price in dollars is not fixed?

Thanks!

Hi Lauri,
Price sfor rent a car, are around the price level you posted.
I guess this rate must have included insurances and tax.
Did you try whit AVIS???
http://www.avis.com/AvisWeb/home/AvisHome?LANGUAGE=ES&MID=9608-56416-2056-0
you will find and english version and could check for the rate they give you.
Of course, if you try change dollars at black market, will get more bolivars.
By the way, Black market rates go down in last weeks.
Best Look and take care.

Polskigirl is right. The black market rate goes up and down. When I was in Maturin Venezuela 1 March, I got 5 Bolivars for the dollar. Now my friend in Maturin says he can only get 4 Bs for the dollar.

What do you mean, "not a natrual non stop flight destination" (by the way, it´s not non-stop flight, we´re coming via Frankfurt).
I´m really coming from Estonia, from the north of Europe :) And hope to find really nice destination in Venezuela, whatever all the people say, it´s really violent and dangerous place to travel.

Lauri, about Dangerous place for travel, all around the world could be dangerous.
Some people like to be alarmist and try to put Venezuela reputation down in relation to the crime, roberry or same.

Just take care, dont show lot of money, dont show jewelery, watch where ytou go and with who, take company taxis, dont go alone late at nights, but neither think Venezuela its a place when you couldnt come and travel........

Which place are you thinking to visit here?????

Did you check Avis????

Black market rates oscilated with the Petroleum price too..... you will now exactly when you arrive, changes every day .

Best Luck
