| Melaka | Give me advice about transnasional and bus no.17 Posted: Tue April 15, 2008 07:26 AM UTC
I'll take a transnasional bus from Puduraya station to Melaka on 18 July 08 and will stay 1 night there and on 19 I'll return back to Puduraya. I want to know that can I book for the bus ticket in advance on 18 July? Or I can buy it on 19 July. And for bus no.17 at Melaka, where should I wait for the bus stop on the way back? Thanks for every comment

You can buy the ticket in advance at Transnasional counter at KL Puduraya or at Melaka long distance bus station (nice bus station). I took Bus no.17, it was a crappy no air cond bus. It goes into downtown and then it goes to a long loop of one way street along the coast before heading back to the long distance bus station. So you just get back on the bus where you get off.

Try to get the bus ticket back to KL when you arrive at Malacca Bus Station as it is a heavily travelled route especially over weekends. Bus no 17 is parked very close to where you would arrive, just ask someone to point out to the direction, a very very short walk within the terminal to bus no 17. if you dont have too much luggage it is a very pleasant way to get to downtown, also to observe malaysian public behaviour. it is the same bus you would take in front of the stadhuys to go to Portuguese settlement.
If your budget allows it, stay at Hotel Puri and eat at Seri Nyonya restaurant at Hotel Equatorial. they are just about the best of Malacca..

Usually, you can buy only one-way ticket from where you are departing. So you may have to buy when you reached Melaka bus station which is like a twin hall building. Just walk across from the arrival hall to the departure hall and buy your return ticket before you take the local bus to downtown Melaka.
My advice: Buy directly from the counters of the larger bus companies. They have more back up buses, more drivers and more frequency to avoid an unexpected delays.
