| Santiago | In Transit Fees???? Posted: Tue April 15, 2008 05:02 AM UTC
I will be traveling from LAX to Paraguay with a connection in Santiago, I have read that there is a departure tax. If this is true what is the amount? Also being a in transit passenger will I be charged the $100 fee for entry?????
Thanks |

You don't say what nationality you are. If you are a US citizen you would have to pay a US$131 reciprocity fee if entering Chile at the Santiago airport. If you are in transit and do not leave the transit area you do not pay it. You would not be paying airport tax either as you are in transit. Try to get your luggage tagged all the way through or you will need to get someone at the airport to re-tag it for you so you do not have to go through passport control (where you would pay the reciprocity fee).

since you are not staying in chile, i very much doubt you would have to pay the reciprocity fee. that would be pure cruelty. is it with the same airlines the whole way? that is much better.
you pay that fee at immigration, and if you in transit, you won't go through immigration so i don't see them charging it.
