if you fly with a US airline then they might confiscate any liquid because of security restrictions.
be sure not to put it in your carry on luggage.

Check with US Customs, but I think the max undeclared amount you can have is 1 liter.

I went through all kinds of interesting inquiries just a month ago on this subject and found out that it depends on where you are coming from. Firstly anything you bring back has to be packed in your checked luggage or it WILL be confiscated - this is the only definite answer. If you are traveling from a country like mexico or canada you are allowed unlimited amounts - supposedly - because of our trade agreement under NAFTA. Not sure if any other countries qualify under different agreements? From anywhere else it seemed that the conservative answer was one liter per person but I also got an answer that stated two and one that stated as much as you could check in your luggage (which I don't believe). I would stay conservative with one or two bottles and hope that it makes it through. Besides you know our government - never the same answer twice! Mine made it, yours may not, got any complaints keep them to yourself and so on and so on.
Good Luck, Scott

Also keep in mind that Puerto Rico is in the USA. It would be like asking how much rum you can take from Texas to Florida. As long as you check it in your luggage (and pack it well), you can check as much as you want.

Might be a little confusing, but Customs does not limit the amount you can bring into the country. They limit how much you can bring in without paying tax/duty. It's all about the money.
They will however, enforce the local state regulation if the state you are going to limits how much you can bring into the state. Unless you are shipping in such a large amount that it looks like you are an importer and it is more than for personal use you should be fine. I know people who have brought in way over the amount allowed without duty and the duty they had to pay was like $50, but make sure you declare it. If you really need to know, check the Customs and Border Protection www site for the regulations.
