Moscow Home from home hostel raised prices
Posted: Mon April 14, 2008 07:51 PM UTC
A few months ago I booked a twin room in the Home from Home Hostel in Moscow for about € 25,- per person per night.

When I want to book this room nowadays, it costs about € 76,- per person per night.

Is this normal, is this Russian, is this...?

This is not normal, no any doubts about it. Of, course we are all feel some inflation here in, but not in 3 times!!!! even not twice))) I guess first or second price should be wrong or there was some kind of misunderstanding while booking. They have to explain the difference, otherwise I'd recommend to book other hostel. In fact such change is beyond normal business practice (I'm civil lawyer in commerce): usually fisrt fixed price is valid for all period of business relations, or they should to make a stipulation about possible changing of the price - and the terms and conditions of such change.

It is NORMAL. Guys, of course it is not infliation! Usually it calls "SPECIAL OFFER" I booked 3 months ago a famouse 4 crowns hotel in London for about 30 dol per night it does not mean that they will have to give me this price for all their life!

Oh, pardon me, I didn't catch the situation right - and decided that the price of prebooked room was changed without notice))) Sure, it could be a special or seasonal offer. May - normally is a beginning of high season, so prices should be higher.

I booked the nights for August this year. And for that same month now, in April, the prices raised from 26 to 76 per person per night.

Furthermore; it is not possible to book this hostel after August this year. From September on they are 'kind of gone'.

Would the advice be: cancel this hostel?

I guess if they didn't give you reasonable explanations about their cost policy in your very case, it's better to book the other hostel, then, IMHO:-/ The reason of such price fluctuation could be that at first time they haven't fixed the prices for summer season yet, and now they did it.
