Copenhagen Where to stay and what's to do after 3+ days in Copenhagen 2 years ago?

My wife and I (mid-50s) are about to book a two-week North Cape cruise in mid-to-late June, 2008 which ends in Copenhagen. As we're traveling on airline miles, we are stuck in CPH because of free seat shortages for an unnecessary two days, 6/24/-26/08. Yet, we've already been there two years ago for 4 days, stayed near Nyhavn and saw most major tourist sites, including a train trip north and back to Helsingfors, Frydensborg and the like.

Where can we stay at reasonable cost (near Nyhavn, Amalienborg or the port) and what side trips can we take to fill up our extra two days? Thanks, Henry.

Have you considered heading up to Stockholm? I believe the express train takes about 4 hours. You could stay up there as well, instead.

If you don't want to go to Stockholm you could visit Malmö or any other of the big cities in Skåne, located at the south of Sweden.

May I suggest you take the bus across the Oresund Bridge to Southern Sweden and spent a couple of nights in Malmo. It is a lovely spot, very walkable with some good restaurants and you can take a short side trip to the university town of Lund which is quite gorgeous.

Trains leave very regularly from Malmo directly to Copenhagen Airport so you wont need to go back into Copenhagen.

Hotel accommodation is considerably cheaper in Malmo than in Copenhagen, in my experience.
