looking for some recommendations of cheap places for lunch, nice mid priced places for an eveing meal, and anywhere thats expensive but worth it, just in case Wee decid e to get swept away. (staying nr Galleria bridge, for 4 nights)

We do like seafood. I would call 50-100 euors for 2 all in (with drinks) medium
I doubt we would go more than 160 euros for 2 unless there was an amazingly good reason.

I like to try the local specialities, and I thinkw e are both fairlt adventurous with food. Ta

Hi,
I'm beginning to sound a little like a stuck record on this one but I thoroughly reccommend Osteria Do Farai in the district of Dorsoduro. Some of the best seafood anywhere in Venice and within your mid-range.

Quite used by locals, and with a lot of seafood specialities and used to a quick service you may try
http://www.ristoranteallamadonna.com/eng/locale.htm

not far from the Rialto bridge.

Do you mean you are staying near the Accademia bridge?

Ciao
Francesco

Take a look at this: http://www.fiaschetteriatoscana.it/inglese/index.htm

The meal and ambience were superb... but it may be a little more expensive....

Hi - Some suggestions - Cheap for lunch/evening meal - Aciugheta - 5 mins walk from San Marco Piazzo, or try a selection of cicheti, and quality wine at Cantina del Vino Ghia Shiavi in Dorsoduro. For your evening meal - Algiubagio at Fondamente Nova vaporetto station. These places and others are on my Venice restaurant tips page.
There is a book - 'Chow! Venice - savouring the food and wine of La Serenissima' by Shannon Essa and Ruth Edenbaum, which reccommends restaurants and bars around Venice. $19.95 or try their website - www.chowbellabooks.com

Another must do, is an evening drink at Florians, after the crowds have left San Marco Plazza!

Have A Great trip,
Best Wishes,
Sue

Yes don't be tempted to stop for a glass of wine or a coffee at one of the many cafes in San Marco, you'll be horrified at the price! As for really good value food, try the Brek chain of buffet restaurants. I think there are two in Venice, One I know is near Santa Lucia Station. The food is basic but there is plenty to choose from and everything is clearly marked so that you know exactly how much it is going to cost you before you get to the cash register. Not the place to go for a romantic evening out, but definitely for a quick cheap lunch or dinner, I can highly recommend it.
