| Madrid | Madrid Pacifico area - near Calle de Granada - what's it like? Posted: Mon April 14, 2008 12:07 PM UTC
Hi all! I have another question. We are looking at renting and apartment for four days on Calle de Granada in Pacifico (Madrid). Can anyone tell me what sort of area this is? OK for a family with teenage girls? Safe to walk through at night? I gather the apartment is near Metro Pacifico.
Thanks in anticipation! Kristin |

It's not the best, its not the worst....normal barrio of Madrid near the city centre. As long as you ain't walking about w your camara round your neck and your bag open you'll be fine.
Madrid is a typical large city in that it has it's inner city problems...w opportunist people just as London, Paris, Rome and co. have.

Hubby and I stayed at a hotel at Avenida Ciudad de Barcelona and we felt safe even walking late at night (at one point we were walking at midnight, we found out it was midnight because we happened to see a clock hehe - judging by the temperature we thought it was earlier). That street was very lit and there was still some traffic so we were never alone. From how I've seen the street on a map, the apartment could be either close to metro station Menéndez Pelayo or Pacífico and it's behind the avenue I mentioned so you should be fine as long as you don't forget your common sense :)
Have a great trip!
