Marmaris Travel Forum

My family of 3 are staying at Loryma Resort in Marmaris for 4 nights.
-Can anyone tell me if this is really a nice place to stay?
-Would you recommend 'must see' places in Marmaris and the neighboring towns.
I am into architecture (old building), ruins, nature, and local people.

Some old buildings in town, look at my pages but also lots of nature around and a trip to Cleopatra island is a must, you get both. Lots of small bays to stop in and be the only visitor. Akyaka to the south has some boat trips up the river and a nice small beach.

Marmaris was ruined by a earthquake in 1950's. For that reason there are no more old Turkish sytyl buildings. But if you rend a car you should drive one hours to Mugla, the province capital city and "Ula" on the way. In both cities you can wonder the old Turkish-Ottoman buildings which is commenly known in Turkey as "Mugla Evleri" The alla Mugla Dwellings. The chimneys are especially beautiful. There are no ancient ruins around Marmaris. The ancient ruins are in Antalya, Izmir, Selcuk, ect.Sorry I dont know the resort. Have a nice time.
