Corfu Island Travel Forum

Dear all,

i'll be visiting Corfu this summer and my travel agent has offered me the Park Hotel in Gouvia. Just wanted to check whether Gouvia is a good place to stay at for the holiday? Is it too quiet? Are there good beaches and bars around?

Another important question - How far is it from Corfu Town? And what's the best way to travel to Corfu town?

Gouvia used to be a village outside Corfu, now I suppose we can considered it as part of the Corfu suburbs.It' s quite a touristic place, not a quiet one, with many hotels, bars and tavernas.

Gouvia is not a famous place for its beaches! Actually, all the beaches around the City of Corfu are not good at all!You have to travel at least 20 kms away from Corfu, north or south to find the beaches you have been expecting for!

And as you are Italian (I presume!), I can tell you that Gouvia used to be the place for "gli arsenali veneziani".It should be around 6 Kms away from Corfu. (direction: north).

If you want to travel to the City of Corfou, there are the following options:
1)By bus which is not frequent, but cheap
2)By taxi, but more expensive
3)Rent a car
