Nice 3 days on a budget in&around Nice - prices
Posted: Sun April 13, 2008 03:05 PM UTC
Hi!

I'm thinking of going in July(21-24)on a Northern Italy-French Riviera circuit which among others, includes 4 nights in Nice(1 day trip to Monaco, 1 day trip to Cannes, St Tropez and Grasse, 1 free day in Nice). Accommodation and breakfast are included, so I was wondering maybe someone could tell me where to eat on a budget, or to buy food...Are fruits cheaper at the market than in the supermarket? How much would a kilo of bananas or oranges be? or a bottle of water? anything that you think should know would be greatly appreciated.

I read about nice haircuts being done at Salon Identity, does anyone know how much is a haircut?

How much can fees at entrances to museums or other attractions range from?

I'm trying to figure out how much money would be ok for a 3 days-4 nights.

Thank you very much in advance.:-)

Nice's vieille ville (Old Town) has a wonderful daily food (and flower) market on Cours Saleya, lots of cheap restaurants around and in the whole of the Old Town, there's also a Monoprix (just on the edge of the old town) with a very good food section, ready-made sandwiches for a few €s.

ive just arrived back home from my first visit to nice,
like any place shop around to check out prices they do vary.
eg a bottle of water could cost 1.50 or 50 cents,
the old town market fruit looks good.
if you are based in Nice a day return by bus to Monaco was 2 euros

I recently returned from Nice, I found alot of cheap food options around the train station. There were several little corner markets that sold cans of Coke for euro, a bottle of coke for about 2 euro. Fruit was actually about the same price as the super markets, but considering there are many different mini markets around Nice, its much more convienent to buy from them. If your looking for a break from French food, there was a KFC and several different budget chinese ala carte places that were actually decent. If your looking for a good meal on a budget, try Old Nice and look for the places that offer set menu's. They are usually anywhere from 10 to 15 euro and offer a full course meal including dessert. Beware though the price does not include drinks and I was charged 5 euro for a small bottle of Orangina, so be sure to ask about the drink prices in advance!

it does pay to shop around a little,i got off the tram at las planas
needing a drink,a local store just accross from the station a bottle of water
cost 50 cents, and i found all the shopkeepers really nice.
also a tip worth remembering,
on arrival at the airport a ticket on the airport bus is 4 euro, but keep it as you can use it for the rest of the day on buses, and tram line in the city,
just dont forget to validate it on every journey

If you want a good cheap lunch in Monte Carlo and you know the Grand Prix circuit, come down the hill from the tunnel to the chicane and just there, on the left, will be a great mobile cafe with lots of tables and chairs beside some very expensive yachts. Cheap eating in a great location.

Thank you thank you thank you:-)
Errr... my cousin came over and we saw an offer which included Paris too. It;s only one day passing in Nice passing through Cannes to Marseilles and then on to Paris (all by bus) with 2 days in Paris, one in Versailles and then back to Romania with stops in Viena and Salzbourg for 3 days or so.
Would you recommend this better than the one with 3 days 4 nights in Nice?
It is worth to see more of Paris and its surroundings than those of Nice?
Of course in the price meals are not included- 460 euros without the entrance fees to the museums and etc.

All my appreciation :-)
Nicoleta

your first trip on cote d azure looks like 3-4 full days.
while it is good to see as many places as you can on a vacation,
i personally would visit the south of france first, and do paris another time.
460 euros does sound a bit pricey to be sat on a coach most of the time.

Thank u so so much SIr!!!
I myself prefer the South, nature and water, but my cousin seems to be attracted more to Paris and visiting buildings and stuff..but considering the sum of money she agrees its better the Nice trip:-)
