Would you recommend booking through a travel agency in B.A an overnight trip to the Iguazu falls?or is better to make the trip by ourselves by booking the flights and the hotel from the internet?would it be easier andcheaper from a travel agency specialy if the rate incluides transportations and a guided tour to the falls?
We would like to make the trip in a spacific dates,is easy to arrange it with a travel agency? Thanks for your help. |

Best thing to do is checking both possibilities.
If you are on a budget it might be easier to get a budget accommodation in Puerto Iguazu. Package travels often offer accommodations in more expensive hotels. Travelling by public transportation (bus) from town to the falls is easy and cheap. In my opinion there is no need for a guided tour to the falls; go on your own and enjoy the wonderful scenery as long as you want. happy travels Jaap

I agree with vtveen, the best way to visit the falls are by yourself. Remember that if you go with a guided tour, you will have to follow a guide and his/her schedule. You are going to stop for lunch when they want, and you will have to wait for slow people and hurry because of quick people. And also there are many wonderfull sights that you may want to enjoy longer, or take more pics.
You can also buy tickets for 2 days, and the best way to go is by taxi, you can pick one at your hotel, and it will cost about 10 USD. The park is very easy to visit, it has signs everywhere and you will have no problem at all if you go by yourself. I've been there 3 times, and be sure that it's better to manage your time yourself. If you need any help dont hesitate to contact me. Enjoy!!! Sebastian_ARG

I recomend to do by your own
You can get a taxi to both sides , Brasil and Argentina for a reasonable price as they get some money when they take tourists to the waterfalls ( The ticket price is not increased). For details see our tips Buen Viaje !!!!!!

My family went to Iguazu in 2007 and we planned everything ourselves. I never do the arranged "touristy" tours because you are so rushed and you miss out on the learning about the culture. You can take a bus from B.A. for about $15 per person (an overnight trip on a VERY nice luxury bus--just google it), or take a flight (Lan.com) for $250 (one and a half hours).
We stayed here http://www.orquideashotel.com/pop.html for $115 a night (2 bedroom cottage). The prices on the website are in Argentine pesos, so basically just divide by 3 to get US dollars. BE SURE to eat at this restaurant if you go to Iguazu: http://www.eltioquerido.com/tioquerido_ofrec.htm My family of 5 had 3 filet mignons (with baked potatoes and salad), 2 chicken plates, 4 beers, and 3 desserts. The total bill was $28! We left a very nice tip : ) It was the best steak I have EVER put in my mouth, too. It is like fine dining, but you don't dress up. They also have a band that plays while you eat. There is also a very good pizza place that is cheap in the middle of town. Be sure to take the boat trip up to the falls! You will love Iguazu.

I forgot to mention that you should rent this movie before you to to Iguazu:
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0091530/ It is "The Mission" with Robert DeNiro and Jeremy Irons and Liam Neeson. It was filmed at Iguazu. We also visited San Ignacio--the Jesuit ruins. It was way cool.
