We have one day and part of another to spend in the Petrified Forest. What shouldn't we miss? We particularly enjoy photography; are there particular "must see" places, especially for sunrise and sunset photos?

As national Parks go, the Petrified Forest is pretty small. You will have no problem seeing everything you want to see in a day. The Painted Desert in the northern part of the park is the most colorful and most photogenic. The Blue Mesa is pretty cool. And of course you have to see the petrified logs in the southern part of the park.

You will get a brochure when entering the park. There is only one main road that runs in between the south and north entrances. I agree that Blue Mesa and Painted Desert are two top things to see.
