for me u have 2 option :

1. just find travel agencies in krabi and ask about minivan / transport to penang, i think around 600baht/person..maybe take around 10 hours...

2. just take local bus ( i think blue bus) in krabi to hatyai,,,when u arrived in hatyai u have 2 option either choose minivan or trains to penang,,,duration of journey, similar as above,,,

have gud trip,,,,,,,,

I had been to Krabi last year by budget flight. You can check the website of AirAsia - www.airasia.com. Sometimes, there are promotions and offers for flights to Thailand.

You can hire a private driver from Satun. Check my Satun page for details of a company that does so. The people, Khun Oil and Khun Aun are very nice and their prices are great.

I should have added that their office is located at Thammalung Pier, where the ferries come and go to Langkawi.
