Aix-en-Provence bus Marseille to Aix Sunday 4 May 2008
Posted: Sun April 13, 2008 01:17 AM UTC
This thread suggests that there is a bus every 10 minutes from the Gare Routiere in Marseille to Aix, that it takes about half an hour and costs 4,10 euros, but that was a post from 2002. Does anybody have uptodate information on this? I am trying to find out how long I must allow to get from Marseille (Cathedral) to Aix TGV station in order to catch a train from Aix at 18:45 on a Sunday.

On Sundays, buses leave Marseille Gare Routiere for the airport(Bus 91) every 20 minutes starting a 9 minutes past the hour. At the airport you will change to bus 40 for the second leg of your trip to Aix en Provence TGV station.

The en route time is approximately 1 hour.

The TGV station is way out of town at Aix - around 10 miles - there are buses from Aix town centre out to the TGV station every 15 at

But first you have to get to Aix. Now am I being dense here? Why not catch the TGV train at Marseilles St Charles?

The local railway line Marseilles - Aix is currently closed for reconstruction so the SNCF are running a frequent service of buses between the two

Or there is another bus, which runs every 20 minutes on Sundays; journey time about 30 minutes

Hope that helps!

No, you;re not dense and I was unclear. I didn;t think that it would be possible to board a TGV train for such a short journey, but of course it's not Eurostar (where that's often difficult). So thanks to Virtual Tourists I have now discovered a TGV train that leaves Marseille at 18:10, arr Aix (TGV) 18:21 (11 mins!). I should just about be able to catch the 18:10 so I think that's me sorted. Many thanks
