Maldives Any Speadboat or Seaplane after midnight?
Posted: Sun April 13, 2008 12:16 AM UTC
Hi All,

I'll be arriving in Malé with a group of friends on the 13th of January 2008 at 01:15 AM. Is it possible to arrange a seaplane or speadboat transportation to any other island after we arrive? We don't want to have to spend the night in Malé.

Thanks!

Hello again Micheal,

It's difficult to determine how you want to travel until you know where you intend to stay but either way the seaplanes don't fly after dark so you may be stuck on Malé until the morning. It maybe an idea to book your transfers via the resort but if you really want to make your own arrangements have a look here: www.airports.com.mv/local_transport.htm there are 2 companies servicing different islands. I know nothing about chartering speedboat privately.

Regards

Mark

As Maxus says, seaplanes do not operate during the hours of darkness.

Nearly all visitors to the Maldives will have made a booking with a hotel or resort before they arrive. Knowing your arrival date and time, the resort will provide a speedboat transfer. But - resorts that will undertake a night-time transfer are few, and these few are usually those that are relatively close to the airport, e.g., Bandos Resort.

If you have not yet booked accommodation, and you wish to avoid a wait at the aiport, you would have to enquire of individual resorts whether or not they provide night-time transfers, before making a decision on where to stay.
