Vienna Dress code for Vienna Walzer Orchestra at Figaro Hall - Palffy Palace
Posted: Sat April 12, 2008 10:58 PM UTC
We are going to a concert there wondering about the dress code. Can someone please let me know for a man and a woman, do we wear evening dress like strapless dress and a dark suit, or something more casual or not so casual??? Your help is greatly appreciated. The tickets are for April 25th. Thank you

Hi,
even in Vienna the concert- and opera-attire has become much more casual.
As also the program states "No evening dress necessary", you will have a nice evening also in a more comfortable, "club-casual" (no jeans and or sneakers)clothing.
Have a nice evening!
Greetings from Vienna!

These concerts are for tourists, so you can expect to see anything there: from Italian ladies who dress up in fancy evening dresses to Americans in Jeans and sneakers. There is no dress code at all so you can dress as you feel like. However, I was at this concert yesterday and many people dressed up. But just feel free to go the way you want, regards from Vienna, Silvia

As already pointed out, there is no dress code really. However, you will for sure get better service and experience less arrogance and grumpiness if you dress up a little. You'll$ find that the locals are generally nicely dressed and not as casual as tourists. You are free to wear whatever you like, but often sneakers and jeans aren't looked well upon.
