| Santiago | Santiago to Puerto Montt by train Posted: Sat April 12, 2008 04:27 PM UTC
Hi, does anyone know if there is a train that leaves from Santiago Intl Airport to Puerto Montt? Is there a website I can go to? If there is no train running direct, what would I book to get to the closest point and swop over to?
Thanks |

There was railroad from Santiago to Puerto Montt. But today the better you may buy is a ticket from Santiago to Concepción. Watch the below link:
http://www.efe.cl/ You may ask to the railway clerk if is it possible to go from Concepcion to Puerto Montt by coach/bus. The road between the two cities exists. I don't know if there are bus companies operating this service. Cassiovieggore

There is no longer any train service to Puerto Montt. The trains south only go as far as Chillán. Your best bet for travel overland is by bus. The buses are very comfortable and the highways excellent.

There's no direct train. You need to take a bus to Pajaritos metro station, then take the metro to estacion central and take a train which will go as far as Temuco. Then you'll have to get a bus from there to Puerto Montt.

There are trains only to Chillán. In the summer, January and February there was one train a day to Temuco. This may not be the case in the future. Either take a bus or go by air. From Chillán to Concepción EFE runs a bus.
