| San Francisco | Transportation from airport Posted: Sat April 12, 2008 02:34 AM UTC
Hi - aside from a taxi, can you tell me the best way from the airport to FW? Not sure of how much luggage we'll have so just in case we do decide to take a taxi what is the approx. fare? Thanks.

Take the SuperShuttle. I have a car, but I still use them to get to and from SFO. They're cheap, dependable, and door-to-door service.

I second using Super Shuttle. Besides being much cheaper, their van will hold a lot more luggage than a taxi. Gary

Thanks, Donna. Now I know that FW is Fisherman's Wharf. I lived there for many years and never heard "FW" Just don't say "FRISCO". It's ONLY San Francisco.
Moving along... The van services charge a per person rate. Although taxis in San Francisco are VERY expensive if there are 3 of you, a taxi maybe cheaper. One suggestion might be to ask at the information counter at SFO. Also, ask taxi drivers for the fare . If the taxi fare is calculated by the meter and you're going during rush hour, be prepared for a shock, because the taxi may have to stop with the traffic, but the meter just keep ticking away. OUCH!!

If you are light on luggage, you can try BART and MUNI. Take BART from the airport to the Embarcadero Station and then exit the station to Market Street. Then take a historic F-Line MUNI street car to Fisherman's Wharf.

Hi there, I think BART would be the easiest and less expensive than other options. However taking BART would still mean having to take MUNI to the wharf. The F line or any bus line would frankly be a pain with luggage if you have more that one bag each. Taking a taxi from the airport to the wharf would cost you anywhere from about $50 to $60 including a tip. Another consideration is taking bart from the airport to the Embarcadero station then hailing a taxi from there would cost about $10.00 and you'd still be saving money. Have fun!
