Re: travel between Bolivia to Iguasu Falls through Paraguay Posted: Sat April 12, 2008 03:22 AM UTC
Took a regular cab. My wife is Spanish, which may help. I too was apprehensive about Paraguay, and thought it would be a poor country. Maybe that was because of the currency - then 6000 to the $. In fact I was surprised, it all seemed quite affluent, and the road across the country was quite a new black-top which ran straight and smooth. The bus was modern and air-conditioned too.
I think the first rule of tourism should be: "Don't believe everything you hear, go and find out for yourself." Or maybe that's because I'm a pragmatist (and/or never believe anything anyone tells me).
We flew to Asuncion because we had plenty of time but not unlimited money. Iguazu is where the three countries meet, Paraguay, Brazil and Argentina. You could equally well fly to Ciudad del Este in Paraguay, or Foz da Iguaçu in Brazil, or Iguazu in Argentina.

By the way, at the time there was an impressive array of dinosaur footprints to be seen in Sucre.
