Has anyone here stayed at The Top North HOTEL? Any feedback, pro or con? Any suggestions for a NICE clean hotel with a pool that gets sun all or most of the day? We will be 6 nights in Chiang Mai after a 6 week stay in other parts of Thailand. Want something not TOO expensive, but clean and nice.

I've stayed at the Top North Guesthouse and have also visited the Top North Hotel and found them a bit dated, especially the gueshtouse. Might try the Awawana on the small lane on the backside of the Montri Hotel. Small pool but very clean and cheaper.

I stayed at the Top North and it was decent, lame breakfast but good location near night market, OK pool and acceptable service. Enjoy!

stay at the Peoples place hotel, just down from the Adanac Night Food Bazaar, where the Night Bazaar is, it is 600 baht, or stay at the Night Bazaar Place Hotel, very good, and convenient,,,800 baht per night...

last year I stayed at Smile house 1, inside the moat. It is a very budget friendly place with a cute small pool (I think about 450-800B. They also have their own cooking school. They had a more high end hotel, Smile House 2, just outside the Moat, South of the Thai Pae gate that I think also had a pool, maybe twice the price of the other location.

Look at the blog http://my-lanna.blogspot.com, where you find the links to Chiang Mai hotels and guesthouses. Choose one in the old city (where you are close to the temples) or one east of old city, where you are close to the Night Market
