Could you please give me recommendation on budget accommodation in the Pest area? We would prefer rate at 40euro for a double room. Thanks.

BTW, I want to add that as long as the location is convenient, it's fine to us. I only heard that it is better to stay in the Pest area.
I have also gone through a quite a number of hostels. The price for a double room is unexpectedly higher than we expect, ie over 70euro. If my budget is far below the average, please let me know. Thank you.

Hello!
It is quite expensive with hotels, but there is a new one that just opened (as far as I know) by the Vaci Utca (main street of Budapest). The name is Hotel Galilei, and they advertise rooms from 59 Euros. Their webpage is really ugly, but hopefully their rooms are better. Anyone been there? http://www.galileihotel.hu/bemutatkozas_en.htm Outside that there are many cheap apartments and some cheap hotels as well (but they are often quite far from the inner city, so you have to prepare for some walking).

I havent found a place I would want to stay in that price range. In one of the other posts the person was going to stay in an apartment near the Opera House at a very good rate. I copied the post below. The apartment is in my favorite part of town - convenient, central, clean, things to see and do all night long if you wish. Otherwise a "nice" hotel room in a convenient part of town will probably cost E100 minimum.
I am looking at booking one of Elite Studios & Apartments Budapest, 1075 Wesselényi út. 12, for our upcoming trip. If anybody has stayed in one of their units, I'd appreciate some info, i.e. how far to the city center, elevators?, clean? safe area?, close to restaurants?, close to public transportation? etc.

I'm sorry, that is the apartment near the Synagogue. Not bad either, but i liked the other apartment location better. Let me search for the correct post.

By the way, you can check out: http://apartment.gyuli.com/ as well. It is on the Buda side, close to the Danube, so you can see half the Parlament from the balcony. It is also just a hundred meters from the metrostation Batthyany Square.

The Opera Apartments are in the area i like to stay. I generally stay at at hotel about a block away. Andrassy street is an excellent place to spend the evening and its within walking distance of most of what you would want to see in Pest. And there is a subway stop in front of the Opera House that will take you to further destinations.
