Where are the sandiest beaches in Antalya? We are going to be there in early August which they say is high season for tourism. Do not mind driving out 2 hours to get to good beaches that are not pebbly.

From Kemer to Alanya 300 kms sandy beach.
In Kemer, Side, Manavgat and Alanya the hotels are on the sea level. have a nice time. August is very very hot. The best season is Sept.

As SirVic says there are numerous beaches all the way down the coast to the west of Antalya. Just stop and pick your own but be careful of passing traffic and where you park. To the west also and around Belek maybe the chance of seeing a turtle.

How far would the drive to Patara beach be from Antalya?

3-4 hours because the road winds around the coast, half of the time.

Patara is about 2 hours away by car from Antalya centre.Not 4 hours.

About 220 km

The best beach IMO is about 1 hour away ( by car / 1.5-2 hrs by bus / depending on the bus )southwest from Antalya...Cirali...

It boasts a beautiful secluded 4 km beach, the ruins of Olympos, the flames of the Chimeara, as well as it is a protected area by the WWF for the nesting of the Caretta sea turtles.

Even the beach at Cirali is not 100 % sand..but a mixture of both fine sand and small pebbles...but it is not one of those places catering to package tour holidays as it is more so a real rural village that caters to not only Europeans, North Americans as well as turkish families.

The only true sandy beach is Patara...

In distances...Cirali is 1 hour by car from Antalya..Kas is 2 hrs ..therefore Patara which is father I would guess at 2.5 - 3hrs by car..

also another nice beach between Kas and Kalkan is Kaplutas..however it is a long walk down many flights of stairs to get there...

On the other side going east of Antalya...there is Lara Beach..Belek, Side, and Alanya ( 2 hours way )


Alanya is one of the Turkey's largest resorts, with two good beaches, an historical site [old fortress], and great facilities. Cleopatra's Beach, on the western side of the peninsula, is one of the best known beaches. It's sandy, pleasant and more secluded than the other town beach on the eastern side. 2 hrs from Antalya Airport.

Another classic Turkish seaside village/beach scenario, but popular with package holiday groups is Belek/Side. Fine sandy beaches each side of the town and some ancient ruins. 1 hr from Antalya Airport.
