Tecpán Guatemala Hotel in Tecpán
Posted: Thu April 10, 2008 08:29 PM UTC
Hi -

I'm leading a group of college students working with Habitat for Humanity in May, and we're staying in La Villa de Don Pancho in Tecpán. Does anyone have first-hand knowledge of this hotel?

Thanks!

Fred

I don't have first-hand knowledge of it, but it's new and we're considering it for a trip back to Tecpan. Please let me know what you thought of it - we're travelling with 3 gradeschool kids in July and could use the feedback.

Hi -

We just got back, and spent a week at the Villa de Don Pancho. It's a very nice hotel, and the staff is friendly. However, most of my group complained of having little or no hot water for showers (I didn't have a hot shower all week) and one room didn't have a toilet seat all week, even after telling hotel staff.

Overall, I would say it was a good choice. We were warned about the availability of hot water in hotels before we went, so I was prepared for it.

Our group of 11 was just about the only people in the hotel.

Fred

I know the owners pretty well of that hotel, it's close to the middle of town; the water problem is due to the municipal water is only on for part of the day. I usually stay with family in tecpan but you can't beat the location to the market. President bush stayed there on a tour of Guatemala. I'm pretty much family with just about all the butchers in the city tell them Michael sent you if you need beef. It's very fresh as they kill only a few cows every few days. It could have still been eating grass that morning. The prices are all standard on the meat as most butchers are related just find the one you like the most.
