You can buy snorkeling gear in Sharm but it will not be cheaper or of better quality.

I would go for something of cotton: a T-shirt or something like that.

totally agree with the previous post - the quality would be definitely worse. my friends bought 2 pairs of fins, while in Sharm, and one of them cracked after the first swim. it was a hassle to return it to a vendor. he simple refused to return money. after a while. he finally agreed to exchange them for two T-shirts, a total rip off, taking into account that a pair of fins cost $20.

as for the present, I would buy a shisha (water pipe). this is something really different and cool to have at home.

Shisha!!! Great idea!! Be sure to have some flavours of tobacco with it.

But if her boyfriend doesn't smoke.....?????

My favourite things from Egypt are: things of cotton, Loofah (that is the carcas of a kind of plant that is great as a showering spunge. It peels the skin as well. Very cheap in local markets!)
If the boyfriend likes to cook: Safron is very cheap in Egypt! But bargain well, they know safron is very popular and expensive in Western countries!
Some Egyptian perfumes have great male fragrancies for after shaving. Bargain again!!
Or a gold necklace with a cartouche with his name in hierogliphics? She can have hise name in hierogliphics being printed on a t-shirt as well.
Leather is also cheap in Egypt (after bargaining!).

Good luck, Dora.

Have fun, Dora
