Sorry. One last question (somehow I doubt that!) If I skip Sorrento and head back to Naples, what is there that might of interest to see and do? Shops? Plazas? Cafes? Best Pizza place?

We recommend a self guided walking tour of historical sites, museums, architecture, current neighborhoods and authentic pizza in Naples if you enjoy setting your own pace and managing your own time. 2 hours in Pompeii was enough for us-depends on your interest. Our best memory was the scenery on a bus ride from Sorrento to Amalfi but a private professional driver would be your only option to get that far. It seems you now understand that the train is the way to go unless you want a REALLY memorable driving experience.
