We will be spending 9 nights on Samui from May 30th and was going to do 4 nights Chewang and 5 nights Maenam beach with a day trip to Phangang.

Would it be better to spend more time on Phangang and less at Maenam beach Samui?

Maenam is a quiet beach but very nice ideal if you want a break from the noise of Chewang and Koh ngan island.

Maenam beach is very nice, I think you should stick to the 5 days you have planned there. Maybe cut short 1 or 2 days in Chaweng, and spend those on Koh Phangnang.

Our first plan was to do 3 nights Chewang,3 nights Salad beach Phangan and 3 nights maenam Beach before getting the night train back to BKK for 3 nights but sometimes I forget that we are in our mid to late 40's and dont want to be too unsettled by keep changing accomadation on such a short trip.

If we decide to fly back to BKK then it gives us an extra day.

would 2 nights on Phangang be enough?

That's up to you of course and there are more restraunts on Samui, and if you're over 46, I'd advice samui(not Chaweng, only 4 nightlife) and just see how it goes, and NOT book places to stay before you see them, lots of bad place's for us older!? ppl!LOL-You're on a gr8 Isle, so take it easy and chill out, relax while you can!

Now changing like the wind! I have booked the first 3 nights in The red house on Bophut beach and fishing village,then 3 nights at Maenam,leaveing 3 open to stay put, o or look elsewhere?
