No, there is no direct route by road from Cusco to Aguas Calientes. The closest point would be Ollantantaybo, then take the train from there enroute to Aguas Calientes where you can purchase your bus ticket for a 20-minute ride to visit the Machu Picchu ruins. Goodluck & do enjoy beautiful Peru!

When I was in Cusco, a man toldme that a taxidriver could go from Cusco to MachuPicchu, using a car. I told him: I know that only the train can do it, and he said that there is an special route where a car can go to MachuPicchu. To tell the truth, I don't know if that is true or false. When you arrive Cusco, you might ask about that.
