| Davao | Help needed Posted: Thu April 10, 2008 04:11 AM UTC
Hi everyone!
We are visiting Davao this June (3 days and 2 nights) and I have 2 options in mind. I need help before I make final arrangements. 1- Book at Pearl Farm. Leave the resort in the morning to go to other places like crocodile farm, eden park, philippine eagle, malagos garden, etc. and return back in the afternoon. Is this possible? Is the boat ride readily available? Shall we have to pay for the boat ride everytime we leave the resort? 2- Book at a hotel in the downtown area then just take a day-tour at Pear Farm? Which do you think is a better choice? Thanks in advance for your feedbacks. |

If you really want to go exploring Davao, I advise you to book accommodation downtown and then do a day tour of PF. Otherwise, you'll be wasting 3hrs each day on boat rides, that does not include the waiting time and the taxi rides to and from the PF Marina.

It would be better if you make the PEARL FARM ur last destination in ur iterinary. It will consume time in traveling back in forth. You might miss a lot of things that Davao coulf offer.

If you can afford Pearl Farm, then just arrange a tour with them. No need to sweat it out arranging it by yourselves.
If budget is an issue, stay in town.

Your Option 2 is more feasible. If you choose Option 1, you would have to leave the resort at 6:30 am and take the boat ride back to the resort by 4:30 pm as the water gets choppy late in the afternoon. The actual boat ride to Pearl Farm is at least 45 minutes, without counting waiting time. Downtown, Marco Polo hotel would be a good choice, and good value. There is an ethnographic museum at the Insular Village, too.

Depending on your ETA and ETD, you can take the 8am boat to Pearl Farm and 4pm boat back to marina the following day. Stay in the city and visit People's Park. Go to crocodile farm the nxt day for the river rafting. Check asiatravel for Pearl Farm rates and boat schedule.

the best time to see the eagles is in the early morning and crocodile farm in the afternoon around 4pm to 7pm where all shows will be presented

Hi! My name is Adelyn, I was in Davao Aug. of 2006 with my son and 2 sisters, waterfront hotel is the best place to stay overnight to book for your trip to pearl farm the next day. The marina is a block a way from waterfront.Pearl farm is awesome, it's quite expensive but, reasonable. It is $90 per person per night which includes 3 meals. If you are in a budget, one night is enough. Believe me it's worth the money. Your experience will be unforgetable. Do the other tours afterwards. By the way, have you been to Siargao? It's paradise. I've been to beautiful resorts like plantation bay, shangrila, marriott, bohol tropics but siargao island is different. Something about that place that haunts you forever esp. after you visited the 3 popular islands, dako, guyam and naked. enjoy and have a nice trip.
