| Montreal | Things to do Posted: Thu April 10, 2008 03:26 AM UTC
I'm a freshman in college, and a few friends and I are planning to go take a trip to Montreal after the semester is over. Are there things to do in Montreal during the day? We've found a lot of museums, churches, and things like that, but I don't know that that's what we're really looking for. I guess the question is: Is there anything that could entertain a few college students during the day? We aren't really as worried about nights.
Thanks! |

I guess it depends what you're hoping to do. Montreal's not a Disneyland of a city. It doesn't have a lot of crazy attractions to entertain you. It's more of a lounging around in the cafes and in the parks kind of city- lots of restaurants, lounges, coffee shops. It has a huge arts scene with a massively huge music community. "Hanging out" is what I do when I go to Montreal. When you get there, I'd maybe ask the bartenders or the waitresses or go to a coffee shop and ask the locals what they like to do during the day. Go to a music store and ask the people that work there what they think is cool to do.

Well it depends when you are there but if you are there in summer over a weekend, go to the mountain on a Sunday for the Tam Tams - a whole buch of people get together with drums and dance and drum and all that cool stuff on Mont Royal on Sundays - go around noonish.
If you are there at the end of June or Begining of July, go to the free Jazz Festival shows during the day and at night out on the streets. There is also a free show before the F1 Grand Prix if it is held in Montreal this year. Have a souvlaki, a poutine, a shish taouk or smoked meat at least once! You can check out http://www.travelcreek.com/Montreal.htm for some good ideas of things to do.
