Maldives After an island with excellent food, service and sailing.
Posted: Thu April 10, 2008 03:24 AM UTC
We have been to two islands in the Maldives. Rihivelli was fantastic in 1998. Don't know if it has changed. The other was a bit like Fawlty Towers so won't mention its name as it may have got better. The best thing I could say was the service was amusing. Like all the islands it was beautiful which is the main reason we went.

For this trip we want "to die for" food, beauty and good sailing(meaning a reasonably maintained fleet of boats)

Budget is not important although not stratosphere stuff(this is our Honeymoon)

I am tempted to return to Rihivelli but thought there might another place equal or better (hard to imagine).

Any advice would be appreciated.

Cheers

I was impressed with both the service and food at Kuramathi - I can't comment about any sailing. Check out my Maldvies page for further information, photos and tips.

...and I was not terribly impressed with the food at Kuramathi, hehe :o) But I'm a vegetarian, and found that the options for me were pretty limited. One advantage Kuramathi has, is that it's a "big" island with 3 resorts, so there are more restaurants than on most islands (including one Thai and one Indian restaurant).

Yes - I think that was something I thought about at Kuramathi - that there wasn't much in the line of vegetarian but I'm not, so it didin't affect me. On the other hand, the lobster at the grill in the Blue Lagoon area was divine!

Two more which have been recommended are the Conrad and the W Resort. Any comments?
