| Vienna | Vienna to Krakow Posted: Wed April 9, 2008 10:55 PM UTC
My wife and I would like to travel to Krakow from Vienna. We are having trouble finding the best train to take for this trip. Any help would be appreciated.
Also we are looking for a good hotel to base out of for 5 to 6 days while in the Vienna area. Thanks, Les W. |

The best train from Krakow to Vienna in my opinion, is the EuroCity which leaves Krakow at 7am daily and arrives in Vienna at 1.28pm. It is a direct train with no stops.
I don't know exactly what your accommodation requirements are in Vienna but if you are looking for a good clean budget priced hotel where a buffet breakfast is included, I can recommend the Hotel Kolbeck. It is on Laxenburgerstrasse in a very good shopping precinct. The underground is close by and the tram stops right outside the door. I paid 45Euro for a single room there last June and it was extremely good value. The rooms are newly renovated and very big and clean with brand new bathrooms. The breakfast buffet which is included is excellent. The staff are extremely helpful. Whilst we all would probably like to stay in the middle of the city centre, I for one, can't always afford it and in Vienna, it seems that the best value is to be found out a little bit from the centre as is the Kolbeck. It is only a matter of minutes from the hotel to all the major attractions, so I feel it is a great choice. It can be booked on venere.com.

There are two daily trains from Vienna to Kraków:
The first leaves Wien Südbahnhof at 14:33, arriving in Kraków at 21:19. The second is overnight, leaving Wien Südbahnhof at 22:33, and arriving in Kraków the next morning at 06:22. Hope that helps!

http://www.zurwienerstaatsoper.at/ I don't know your budget. This hotel is not too expensive. It had a great location. It's 10 steps from the Ring. 1 block from the Opera and a few blocks from Stephansom. The hotel is family run and the staff is super nice. It is between two metro stops. The breakfast was very diverse also (for a Viennese breakfast).
