| New Orleans | Overnight options Posted: Wed April 9, 2008 07:35 PM UTC
Hello, we are heading through New Orleans for a day and need a place to stay. We have been camping most of the time heading across the country, but thought one night in town would be nice. We have a 4 year old in tow, so nothing too crazy or loud. Is there a nice, not too expensive place to stay in the city. Probably around the French Quarter.
Also, can anyone recommend a campsite fairly close to the city? Or, is it better to find a cheaper hotel outside the city and visit a couple of times from there? |

You could probably find camping in Slidell or Covington, which is on the North Shore of New Orleans (across Lake Ponchatrain). There are some pretty reasonably priced B&B's in New Orleans, but I dont know all their rules about children. Here is a website that you might compare, http://www.bbonline.com/la/new+orleans.html
I dont know your budget, but in general, I have found the hotels in New Orleans to be inexpensive, easily around $100 unless there is something major going on like Jazz Fest, Decadence or Mardi Gras.
