New Providence District Rental car in New Providence?
Posted: Tue April 8, 2008 08:34 PM UTC
Hi, we'll be staying at the Nassau Hilton (parents + 2 kids). We will probably want to epxlore some beaches other than the hotel beaches -- do we need a rental car? I read about a jitney in Lonely Planet, is that sufficiently frequent and going to the right places?

Thanks

You can take a taxi across to Paradise Island and visit the beach there. The public walkway is to the right of the Riu Hotel, so jut ask the driver to drop you there. It's about a 10 minute ride from the Hilton. You can also catch the water taxi at the pier where the cruise ships come in. That is about 2 dollars each way per person, and a 10 minute walk from the dock at the other side to the beach entrance. Any other questions, just ask.
