I know that using cellphones in Namibia is difficult in some locations, but when I was there in 2005, I noticed that in about every village people do use cellphones,.

So I wonder if I could use mine. It's a simple model - a Nokia 6080. This model is also sold in Namibia, as I saw on the Nokia-site, so it would seem to me that I could use my phone ... or am I seeing things to simple?

It has more to do with the card and your 'roaming' ability. My O2 sim worked. Please check with your provider. I had made phone calls from Namibia and South Africa, but had problems with Botswana. If your provider says OK, it's OK.

I had no problems to use my Nokia GSM while in Namibia, in every town or village it was working perfect. Of course in the wilderness, down in dunes or canyons you might not have reception but that is normal. In general it was working good on the MTC Namibia networks.
