Which car rental agencies are located at the port where the cruise ships dock? How far away from the port are the car rental agencies? Can I walk there?

There are car rental agents with cars at the dock just waiting for you to walk off the ship and say "I need a rental car for today". Hertz and Avis International were both at the dock when the ship my wife and I were aboard, arrived at the port of Livorno. You can make arrangements ahead of time for the date of arrival and type of vehicle you want. It might also be less expensive by getting rates ahead of time from your local car rental agency.
