Dubai Eye Hospital in Dubai
Posted: Tue April 8, 2008 02:44 AM UTC
Could anyone please advise if you know any good, inexpensive eye hospital in Dubai? I am clueless and know no one there. My brother has been "seeing" light flashes, floaters, spider-web like particles floating... due to his worn out retina (but he's still young!)

The scary thing is that the frequency of seeing them keeps increasing.... I'm terrified to death of the fact that he could lose his vision ... or get blind...:-(
He was going to wait until he came back home but from what I've read on internet and asked around, rapid treatment/operation is a must, before the entire retina become detach ...
Sorry I'm very nervous, please if you know or someone who knows, kindly advise.
Thank you very much & God bless you,
TrinTrin

Suggests he consults his employer, or his embassy/consulate.

One of the best is Moorfields Eye Hospital, but I have no idea what their prices are.
Their website is www.moorfields.ae

If the condition of your brother is a real emergency he may visit Dubai Hospital in (Al-Baraha area), there would be an ophthalmologist on-call which would be called to check on your brother. If he needs emergency treatment/operation they would do it and charges should be paid, but since its a governmental hospital charges are less than private. If his case is not an emergency then they would advise of the best options that he might have.
Good luck.

I can understand the problem what u r facing for ur brother. I prefer you to talk to his employer to make his Insurance card. Once he gets the insurance card there is a help line number written at the back of the insurance card. You can call that number and ask them which hospitals he can visit. Take down the list of the hospitals and visit them one by one and u can find out which is the best Doctor. The fees that u will have to pay is AED. 25 only for per visit. Rest all the expences will be born by the insurance company, even the medicines will be insured, you will not have to pay anything other then 25dhs.
You can contact me if u need more info on this.
Take care and we all VT members will pray for ur brothers good health.
God bless you
Hamed

Thank you so much 37Single and Smarty, that was informative. Another question, what do you think about Dubai Hospital VS Rashid Hospital, they are both government-own?

Thank you again,

Both are good. But you cannot use ur insurance card in both hospital as they r government hospitals. But if you enter via emergancey then all ur treatment will be free till you get well or else u have to pay for every visit. But they r cheeper compare to the private hospitals. I think AED. 100 per visit.
