Departamento de Cusco Cusco area suggestions?
Posted: Mon April 7, 2008 07:20 PM UTC
Hello all

At the start of May I'll be spending a few days in Lima, 4 days taking in Cusco and the sacred valley, then we head on on a 4 day incan trail hike. After we return from Machu Picchu we'll have 5 full days to play with.

What i'm looking to do is something a little off the tourist path( eg. hike out to little known/visited ruins) I looked at trekking to espiritu pampa but just don't have the time. Lake Titicaca seems to get varying reviews and the train schedule to Puno doesn't really fit into my schedule very well. Can anybody offer up any suggestions?

Thanks in advance
Adam

You can also go by bus from Cusco to Puno. Details on my Peru transportation pages.

I opted to go to Puno to experience Lake Titicaca after the MP adventure. Many others go back to Lima and then head to the coastal south to celebrate the final leg of their Peruvian journey, and others head towards the jungle area for an eco-tourism adventure. It depends what your preference is. Bus always is an alternative to the train ride en route to Puno. From there, you can even proceed to the border town of Copacobana in Bolivia. Goodluck & do enjoy beautiful Peru!
