| Ukraine | northern romania to lviv Posted: Mon April 7, 2008 09:54 AM UTC
I have been reading the two recent posts on travel northern romania to chernivtsi.
We want to go on from Romania( Suceava area) to Lviv and were advised to travel from Vadul Siret to Chernivtsi and then to Lviv. The site I have been using (Rozklad) does not list a 13.36 train but one at 8.10 from Vadul Siret, but I think that discontinues after may 25. I am a bit confused. Would someone please advise me whether to go from Siret or Suceava for a daylight train, and which is best website to use for trains which has an English translation. Is it best to go on from Chernivtsi to Lviv by bus or train. Your help much appreciated |

I have checked "Rozklad" (unfortunately only in Ukrainian). the only train listed that goes from Bukharest to Ukraine is train #60 (leaving Suchava at 13:36 arriving in chernivtsi 18:16). I took this train from Kyiv to Chernivtsi, and can assure you that it unfortunately doesn't go through Lviv. the route described in the previous posting by Mariawhotravels is an accurate one. depending on how you want to proceed, you either stay overnight in Chernivtsi - it's definately worth a 1-2 stay, or just go strait to Ternopil by the same train (arriving 1:35 am), and then catch a train to Lviv from there.
I would suggest you stick to train, it's long, but it's a bit more comfortable -(you can lay down and rest, rather than sit for several hours).
