Between 18-21 degrees. Unless you like it cold, I wouldn't swim in July/August! But then again, water is warmer than outside temp.

I'm a bit of a wuss with water temperature...there is no chance you'd find me in the ocean in any of those months!
If you go to the nude beach, I think you'd have the same amount of extreme shrinkage in any of the May-August months.

Hi The sea water temperature does not vary much between summer and winter, summer peaks at say 22C and mad fall to approx 19 C during winter. Where you get cold is from the wind, the chill factor. Coming from northern Europe you most likely are used to the lower temperature level.
Late May early June should be suitable for you as you could expect some nice sunny days around 20C air temperature, and if you find a sheltered spot on the beach you will have an enjoyable time. You could also hire or bring a wet suit with you. A good day out is to catch the Manly Ferry from the city ( Circular Quay), the half hour ride will give you a fantastic view of Sydney Harbour and Manly has one of the best beaches in Australia, plus some good pubs on the esplanade where you can have a counter luch and beer. The beach is a 5 minute walk from the ferry terminal. Check our pages on VT, most members who replied would have a page on Manly or other Sydney beaches. Good Luck, Mike

Are you a surfer? If so, buy a steamer (full body wetsuit) and you're happy.
If not, just look for a heated pool.
