Byron Bay is warmer than Sydney so you can expect to swim there up till early June. Again July/August will be too cold.....but great for whale watching :o)

Hi Water will be much warmer than Sydney plus the air temperature will be mis 20's C. From where you live in Northern Europe you will find it to be very good.
Check out VT tips on Byron Bay and you will see you are heading to a beach paradise.

Good Luck,
Mike

Kakapo, no need to scare the man, shark attacks are extremely rare, your chances of being killed by a train are more certain than a shark. And by a car you have a real chance of being killed.

Forget the shark and just swim where other locals are, keep away from fishermen.

Good Luck,
Mike

I do no want to scare the man - just make sure he always looks for warning signs and gets information. The problem is that sharks also attack locals...

The tip to stay away from fishermen is a good one!

Ref. to the shark attack. It was the first fatal one after two years. So statistically you should be fine ;-)

Thanks for the tips, I'm not worried about the sharks having lived Down Under for a year and been there again on vacation.
